Timez Attack is a structured educational software program which is cleverly disguised as a capitivating video game. The game utalizes a proven model for teaching math facts that goes beyond the more common "drill and kill" style of many programs which offer just repetitious practice.
Timez Attack also illustrates the value of the numbers involved in each problem, then forces the user to capture and use the factors in the problem before solving it. This teaching is then reinforced with repetition that helps move learning from short-term memory to long-term memory. The programme also keeps track of the user's answers, and forces the user to correctly answer more problems using numbers they have shown difficulty solving.
Timez Attack can be fun, or frustrating, depending on the user's hand-eye-mouse dexterity. The programme is a solid multiplication table teaching and review programme, that is appropriate for anyone who likes video game- style entertainment which is well suited for home schooling or computer labs.

Encarta Kids is a special area for younger learners, ages 7-12. It has age-appropriate articles and lively multimedia. Encarta kids provides a safer place to explore a variety of topics, make learning fun and easy with colourful, easy to navigate environment designed just for kids, with alot of maps, photos and interactive quizzes.
The site uses large colourful icons that children love, has loads of pictures in place of the large amounts of text the regular Encarta has and is generally a goal application for young kids to use and explore.
Encarta Kids features extra large type sizes, bright colours and a huge quantity of multimedia. It was noted that the site anticipates children's misspellings in helping to guide them to the desired content. Although this site is very beneficial, unfortunately, the site has downfalls. One of these downfalls in particular is that although the games in Encarta Kids are fun and informative, they are somewhat repetitive in their formatting.

While browsing the internet in an attempt to research educational software for children of ages 3-12 years of age, I came across looledo.com. This website interested me because I observed it is a crafts website for kids which parents, teachers and educators can use to help children in crafts. Since I have an interest in crafts, I thought that this would be the ideal website to aid me in showing how crafts can be important in the education system and also, the enjoyment kids have while making their crafts. I also noticed that this site contained step by step instructions of a variety of kids crafts which kids could build simply by using materials they can find around their homes or in their classrooms. There are also video tutorials showing detailed steps in manufacturing the projects. I would recommend this site for parents, teachers and especially children because to me, the site aids children in becoming creative by using their imagination to create objects and have fun while doing so.
The item above is an example of such creations which children can manufacture.
